Liverpool Council unveils a 30-year plan to revamp its historic waterfront, prioritizing public life, sustainability, and accessibility. The Merseyfront Walkway, a green ribbon from Otterspool to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, will serve as the citys social and ecological backbone. Public realm improvements, including new linear parkways, will give priority to pedestrians, cyclists, and the rapid transit network. The Great Howard Street and Leeds Street junction will be overhauled, sinking vehicular traffic below ground to create a pedestrian plaza and transit hub. The plan, developed with West eight, a renowned urban design firm, will guide future waterfront development if approved by the councils cabinet.
