On August 8, Nadia's body was discovered in Bilaspur Colony, Uttar Pradesh, brutally decomposed and unrecognizable, with signs of sexual assault.The investigation led the police to Bareilly Uttar Pradesh where they found Khushboo. Khushboo confessed her involvement in the crime which led to the arrest of Dharmendra Kumar, a laborer with a criminal history. According to his confession, he attacked Nadia while intoxicated, intending to rob her. When she resisted, he assaulted and strangled her, later smashing her face with a brick to hinder identification.
