The great explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton died suddenly from a heart attack on January 5th 100 years ago on South Georgia in the Antarctic.
Who better to celebrate this iconic adventurers life with than a man who has been described by The Guinness Book of Records as ‘the greatest living explorer’? Sir Ranulph Fiennes has led expeditions to some of the most remote places on the planet. Among his many record-breaking achievements, he was the first to reach both Poles, the first to cross the Antarctic and Arctic Ocean, and the first to circumnavigate the world along its polar axis.
He has written a biography of Shackleton which is out now and he’ll also be taking part in the BFI’s celebration of the spirit of Adventure and Human Endurance on Film with a screening and Q and A later this month
