Today we are looking at Exodus 20:7, where we first read about the Ten Commandments. What can it teach us about who God is?
A practice that can be helpful is reading parts of the Bible that you “already know”, especially verses that you heard often growing up. The Ten Commandments is one of the examples of something you may have heard about without taking time to read it for yourself.
Here are some of the every day resources I use to dive deeper into the Bible:
A Study Bible: My study Bible is this New Living Translation, which has been helpful for me the last ten years in learning to read the Bible.
Youversion Bible: This app is a quick, easy way to read a section in different translations. Sometimes I read a verse in NLT, NIV, ESV, AMP, and The Message to see it from a few different angles and try to understand what is being communicated.
Blue Letter Bible: This website/app is free and full of commentaries, cross references, definitions of root words, and more - it's a great resource for exploring a section of Scripture more in depth.
My recommendation is to read a passage without resources at first, praying and talking to God about help to understand. After that, there are a lot of resources out there!
