Description

Charlene Carr (@charlenecarrauthor) Dope Black Mum and Author of Hold My Girl (@charlenecarrauthor) joins Nina (@missninamalone) to speak about her painful experience of IVF and miscarriage, perception of motherhood, and experiencing fear that once her longed-for daughter was born that she might not be hers.

When Charlene’s daughter was born, she emerged visibly white and looking nothing like her, so much so, that she spent the first months of her life genuinely concerned there was a mix-up at the fertility clinic and her daughter was not her biological daughter. Hold My Girl was inspired by Charlene Carr’s own struggles with infertility and her efforts to reverse it. During her 5-year struggle to conceive she went through numerous rounds of IVF, frozen embryo transfers and heart-breaking pregnancy loss.
