Her Many Voices Foundation is delighted to present our May livestream featuring Brenda Kessler of the Children and Nature Network.
Brenda Kessler brings experience from her career in communications and a passion for the intersection of conservation and education. After working for over ten years in broadcast media, including NBC Universal and Univision in New York, her desire to confront pressing environmental issues that affect communities led her to pursue a master's degree in Natural Resources and Environmental Science from the University of Illinois. She currently works with the Children & Nature Network to support and mobilize municipal leaders and their community partners to connect children to nature's benefits more often and equitably. As Green Schoolyards Program coordinator she supports forging partnerships that support greening schoolyards and ensure education systems become more resilient to climate change. Inspired by her childhood experiences while growing up in Mexico, Brenda is committed to helping future generations gain knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes that strengthen learners' resilience and contribute to problem-solving in daily contexts.
From “cool urban islands” in France and colorful nature crafts in the Czech Republic, to youth environmental clubs in Cameroon and playful backyards in Brazil — passionate and committed individuals around the world are finding creative ways to connect children to nature. Take a global tour with the Global Lessons on Greening School Grounds & Outdoor Learning, a joint initiative of Salzburg Global Seminar, the International School Grounds Alliance, International Union for Conservation of Nature, #NatureForAll, the National League of Cities Institute for Youth, Education and Families, and the Children & Nature Network.
