Welcome to another episode of Movies that Make Us! We’re continuing our
theme of growth, change, overcoming obstacles, and movies that make us
feel good with this week’s episode featuring Brittany Runs a Marathon.
In this film, Brittany (Jillian Bell) lives in New York City and struggles with
her weight and self esteem. She sets out to better herself and eventually
wants to run in the New York Marathon. It’s much more than the typical out
of shape funny character that then changes and loses a ton of weight and
everything is perfect. Brittany struggles and there are times where she is
not a good person, but she overcomes the setbacks and struggles to
continue to grow. It has more language than the typical movies we review,
so we want to alert you in case that is something you are cautious of. It’s
funny, it’s heartbreaking, it’s got some real depth and is one heck of a film
debut for director Paul Downs Colaizzo
What are your thoughts on the film? As always, you can reach us at
