I am the curator of the SPEAK FEED LEAD Public Speaking Studio in Redmond, WA., and the founder of THE SPEAK FEED LEAD PROJECT non-profit. Our mission is to transform all individuals to SPEAK with power, FEED others in word and deed, and LEAD with positive influence.
We can help someone overcome social anxiety, risky behavior, shyness, etc. The Speak Feed Lead Project wants to connect with children, teens, and adults in foster care, victims of abuse or trafficking or living in poverty.
I have spent my adult life helping others find their own. I have created public speaking and leadership curriculum for children, teens, and adults. I provide mentoring and instruction via weekly courses, workshops, and coaching through my non-profit corporation.
I worked for a friend in Utah, flipping motels after graduating high school. It involved painting, sheet-rocking, and general construction, but I enjoyed the transformation from run-down to remarkable.
I then secured my grants and loans, allowing me to attend school to become a dental assistant. I was living in Mesa, Arizona, and hired by the dentists whom I'd interned.
Ten years of chair-side assisting, thirteen years in oral surgery, and seven years in dental office management prepared me to open EMERALD CITY CONSULTING as a dental management coaching business. Dentists (like all small business owners) want higher profits. I knew how to make that happen - by improving communication. Making money in dentistry requires a team approach, although it does not happen overnight. Soft skills are a hard sell, and I struggled to make a living with just a few clients.
In 2007 I went to the annual conference of SPEAKING CONSULTING NETWORK, which I'd joined. Jeannie Robertson was the keynote speaker, and I was amazed at her ability to make me laugh and cry in the same presentation. I asked her how she'd learned that, and she suggested I join Toastmasters International. I found a club a mile from my home and joined.
A few years later, I led not just my club but a district of 3500 members. I trained a team of 100 volunteers to meet milestones. I managed a non-profit budget, and I started new non-profits from the ground up.
I authored a book titled Self-Centered Leadership: Becoming Influential, Intentional, and Exceptional. My voice is now heard by many. I found it, and I share it through verbal and written communication.
