Many people (including us) proudly wear the label of overachiever and enjoy being the kind of people to go above and beyond – in work and in other parts of life. But that’s not always a good thing. Sometimes, it can actually create more problems than it solves.
This week, we unravel the downsides of being an overachiever, including:
- the challenge of setting unrealistic (and unsustainable) expectations about your capacity
- knowing where to put your extra energy and effort
- the pros and cons of overperforming during your first 30/60/90 days on the job
- the difference between being a high achiever and an overachiever
- why it doesn’t have to be lonely at the top, if you build the right support network
- many, many automobile metaphors
Remember, “You can’t spell career without car.”
PS - 1.80 seconds is the fastest F1 pit stop record.
