Following the death of her mother to metastatic breast cancer when she was 21, Cass details the circumstances that saw her commit to a prophylactic double mastectomy at the age of 31. She discusses how fear impacted her decision and how lack of information contributed to a long and difficult journey with breast reconstrcution utilising breast implants. After an implant rupture caused concerning health issues, Cass talks about the courage she found to undergo a DIEP flap breast reconstruction earlier this year and how the process provided her with an unexpected and deep love for her body as well as a renewed faith in the medical system.
