Description

This week we’re dropping a very special conversation between Jazmin and Karen all about the delights and dumpster fires of this holiday season! Join us, won’t you?!

We define what we mean by “the holiday season” and share some of our personal feelings, childhood memories, and current traditions for holidays like Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years. We talk about how our experience of the holidays has changed over time and get a little personal about the impact of grief around the holidays.

We also dive right into the unique charms and challenges of being a professional counselor over the holidays and explore some of the differences between working in an agency setting vs. a private practice setting during this time of year. We take a look at the realities of managing one’s own personal schedule over the holidays with the demands of clients - both established and new! - and the very real financial and “time off” constraints that anyone who is their own boss deals with. We also touch on clients giving gifts, burnout realities, and how to deal with family drama now that you just can’t un-see it.

If you need a break from yours today - we’ve got you, we see you, and we’re going through it too! Cheers to the holidays!
