This week Jazmin throws down on some of the scammy elements in our profession including all the re-up rules for various certifications and then the trainings that charge an arm and a leg for their CE credit (AKA PDF certificate) on top of the cost of the training content itself. It’s a rant that gets us both fired up because of all the rules that we have to follow that then cost us money to follow…sometimes we wonder, is this an MLM??

This week we’re sharing our interview with the delightful Sena Moran! She is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (or, BCBA). She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Florida and a Master of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling and Psychology from University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. She also completed the Behavior Analysis Sequence as an online certificate program through the University of North Texas to become a BCBA. Her origin story is super fascinating and we love digging into that with her!

Sema currently runs her own fully virtual private practice. She started practicing virtually way before most of the rest of us and even has some personal experiences with the virtual therapy corporate giant, Betterhelp, to share with us! With Sena we talk in some depth about Behavior Analysis and how her background in this continues to impact her counseling work with agoraphobia and becoming an ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) superfan/expert. She has a course on her website called ACT Yourself that’s a great introduction to ACT that you should check out to get familiarized with it and see if it’s a theory that’s a good fit for you!
