Description

The United States is once again staging a familiar drama: the federal government has shut down. The consequences this time, however, extend beyond furloughed workers and locked office doors. The problem is the data. At the very moment when the Federal Reserve is weighing when to cut interest rates, the shutdown threatens to halt the flow of economic reports, the very signals the Fed depends on to make its decisions.
