Last week on TAS, we had the pleasure of hanging out with Josh and John from the band El Wencho! Based here in Montana, El Wencho is described as ‘a powerhouse duo with big sound that relates the MT lifestyle through immersive lyrics, catchy melodies and driving rhythms.’ Once you listen to John’s rock/folk/blues inspired guitar, mixed with Josh’s polyrhythmic Latina percussion sounds while using unconventional musical items, you’ll instantly be hooked in to their unique experience! Combine all that with quirky storytelling in songs like Live By the Gun, and you will immediately be transported to the rugged dirt road out in the west where they derive their sound.
We sat down with the guys to discuss everything from songwriting, how they met during their time playing in The Clintons, maintaining relationships & chemistry when writing and collaborating, to discovering their distinctive style and sounds they use today!
