Robin McAuley began his musical career when he started playing drums at the age of nine in his native Ireland. Later in life, after moving to England, he dropped his drum sticks, put a microphone in his hand, and began singing with a local pub band, playing all around London. This eventually led to Robin joining the band Grand Prix, which recorded two albums with Robin as lead vocalist and achieved some chart success. After the band split, Robin helped form a band with Motorhead drummer Phil Taylor, Thin Lizzy guitarist Brian Robertson, and bassist Chris Glenn. The band did not last long, but did release one EP entitled War Games. Next he ended up recording with the group Far Corporation who had chart success in England with a remake of Stairway To Heaven. This version of the song caught Rudolf and Michael Schenker's attention, which eventually led to Robin joining forces with Michael Schenker and the McAuley Schenker group was born. They went on to record three studio albums and one Live Unplugged album. Robin would go on to play in Survivor for a while and more recently has released two albums with the band Black Swan as well as two solo albums, the latest of which, entitled Alive, came out on February 17, 2023. Robin joins us to talk about his latest release and we take a listen to one of the killer tracks from Alive!
