Once again, the Enterprise is pulled off course by a distress call. While they’re on the way to Star Station India, they get an urgent call from the USS Lantree announcing the crew of that ship is dying. They blow off India and find the Lantree adrift and the crew dead from old age even though they were all in the primes of their lives. They quarantine the ship and head to it’s last stop, the ironically named Darwin Genetic Research Station where they find the inhabitants prematurely aging. The Darwinians are worried about a group of genetically engineered “children” who have been isolated from everyone else and appear safe. Pulaski gets it into her head that she wants to examine one of these kids and it’s decided they can do it safely if they wrap the kid in plastic. She wants to get her hands directly on the kid, so she convinces Picard to let her and Data put the kid in a shuttle. As soon as the kid is unwrapped, Pulaski begins to age rapidly. Wouldn’t you know it, it’s the kids! They have some sort of aggressive immune system that attacks everything around them. The Enterprise crew finally figure out they can de-age Pulaski and everyone else by running them through the transporter, and when they’re done, they blow up the Lantree. Damn . .
