Your business is a series of inputs and outputs. You receive an input (for example, a gig offer) and a bunch of stuff happens and then an output occurs (you perform on stage and receive payment). What we want to focus on today is all that stuff in the middle - what we call the system.
Realize it or not, whenever your band receives an input (gig offer, merchandise sale, email, etc) you use a system to funnel it through until it is considered completed and done. The problem is that, if you're not careful, these systems can be incredibly time consuming. Eventually you won't have any time to actually do the work that matters because you'll be too caught up dealing with a mess of inefficiency.
