Ken and Carla review the situation in Ukraine and then turn to the Judiciary Committee hearings with Supreme Court nominee, Ketanji Brown Jackson. Ken expresses relief that he left the republican party years ago. The grandstanding and political theater betrays a complete abandonment of democratic norms, all played out on the world stage. Turn's out, Robin D'Angelo's analysis of white fragility is playing out in the Senate chambers. Lindsey Graham violates the constitution by giving the judge a "religious test." Ted Cruz brings in Ibram X. Kendi's children's book to press the judge on Critical Race Theory. Tom Cotton and Josh Hawley attempt to promote the spurious notion that the judge gives concessions to criminal pedophiles. Marsha Blackburn asks the judge to define "woman," and when the nominee properly defers, she accuses her of being the kind of liberal who will destroy families and the nation's children. The judge will in all likelihood be confirmed. This episode was recorded as day 2 brought more of the same. The nominee stood strong against a barrage of mansplaining. Secretary Pete represents a different approach. Ken shares his current reading: Groundskeeping by Lee Cole. Lucy Lark hears from her dad.
