Description

In this episode I speak with American Top Team & Boca Boxing District Coach Dyah Davis.  Dyah talks about his own unusual path to professional boxing, the ups and downs of that career and how it led to the coaching world.

Going from starting in the boxing world at 23 years old to becoming one of the premiere boxing coaches in the world this is a great story of success as both an athlete and a coach. The dedication Dyah showed in becoming a professional boxer has clearly translated to success in his coaching career working with top UFC athletes Junior Dos Santos, Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Dustin Poirier.

One of my biggest takeaways from this interview is the importance of supreme self belief.  Despite going through adversity, keeping the belief in yourself of what you know you can do through it all is crucial.  Listening to Dyah talk about working through adversity with Dustin Poirier, pulling back to fundamentals and re-building after losses is truly one of the most important points to remember for any athlete.  We can often lose the fundamentals or the foundation of "what got us there." Being able to get back to that and continue to refine your skills year after year is what will help build champions.

There is also a lot of great takeaways for coaches in this interview. Learning how we can share our experiences & help our athletes developing the mental strength needed to help build our athletes throughout their careers.
