Description

Incident Debriefs are crucial at the Firefighters Podcast as we believe that knowledge learned from operational activity should be shared with not just all fire and rescue services but the wider sector where appropriate.

This helps us to improve performance at incidents, cope with future changes in the operational environment, develop and innovate to provide the best service to the public and improve the safety of firefighters & other front line responders.

Todays debrief is from an incident on the evening of 2nd November 2007 where four Warwickshire Fire & Rescue Service firefighters died carrying out their duties. They were fighting a fire which started on a single pallet inside an evacuated industrial building, in Atherstone-on-Stour.

The debrief aims to be objective, open minded and fair. The main focus is on the operational learning from the incident and the events surrounding it.

The events of that evening have had a profound effect on all involved, and it is the sincere hope of the firefighters podcast that this debrief assists in making firefighters and the communities they serve safer. Four firefighters were tragically taken away from their loved ones and colleagues that evening.

We hope you take some learnings away from this incident.
