When myself and today's guest, Jelena Macura were both first years living in lister hall at the UofA it did not take long for us to realize how much fun the other was to argue with. This was the basis of a fast friendship and showed quite quickly what a force Jelena was. Anytime I needed to check the merit of a particular idea or often just needed a good ego-checking, Jelena was more than up to the task. So when she told me in our 3rd year with complete confidence that once she graduated she was going to continue her education in Europe and eventually work for the united Nations I did not doubt it for a second. Although the end goal of her plan has changed the drive to better herself opened up even more doors and landed her a dream job with a trade association where she gets to travel the entire EU doing work that she loves. It was thoroughly enjoyable catching up with Jelena and discussing her takes on a multitude of subjects form oil+gas, the environment and international policy, to growing up and finding who you are.
