“Take excellent care of the front end of your day, and the rest of your day will pretty much take care of itself. Own your morning. Elevate your life.” - Robin Sharma
I don't use my phone for at least the first hour of the day.
This allows me to start my day on my terms, rather than the terms the external environment is putting on me.
Notifications, emails, social media, etc. are all distractions that I don't allow in to start the day. This provides an environment that sets me up to be proactive, and on the front foot to begin each day, rather than reactive, and on the back foot.
I personally have a number of morning routines that I go through, depending on where I am, what I'm doing, how long I have, how my sleep was the night prior, what the day ahead looks like, etc. Some are 20 minutes. Some are 40 minutes. Some last an hour.
I will choose the routine that best suits the circumstances.
I recommend putting together a simple 10 to 20-minute routine that you can do in any environment, regardless of whether you're at home, staying at your partner's place, traveling, and so on and so forth.
In this video, I share my most basic morning routine, which has become my default over the years. Sometimes this isn't even practical if I have an early flight or an event that requires a little more urgency, however, the majority of the time, these are my non-negotiables.

"I shouldn’t be in the position I am right now."
The odds were stacked against me:
● Poor family on welfare, eldest of 6 kids, parents didn’t work, abusive step-dad, no electricity or running water for a 6 years period of my life
● Caught up with the wrong crowd, stealing, drugs, skipping school
● At 14 years old, I sat on a bus for 3 days with $50 in my pocket, to travel to the next State over West, to begin a new life in the workforce - 2000
