Maria Grazia Turri is a Lecturer at Queen Mary University of London and the co-director of the MSc Creative Arts and Mental Health. She is a medical doctor and worked as psychiatrist and psychotherapist for the NHS for 15 years. She is a member of the Critical Psychiatry Network.

 

Maria advocates for reform of the dominant paradigm in contemporary psychiatry and is passionate about promoting the creative arts as essential to research,education and practice in mental health and wellbeing.

 

As a researcher in theatre studies, she writes about spectators’ unconscious responses to performance. Her book Acting, Spectating and the Unconscious is published by Routledge. Maria’s biography and publication list can be found here:
