A “Consecration to Jesus through Mary” will be offered on the “Your Faith Anew!” Podcast beginning December 31st. Our Consecration Day will February 2nd the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord which also is the Purification of Mary - Candlemas Day.
This is an opportunity for those who have never consecrated themselves to Jesus through Mary and many others who can renew their devotion to Jesus and Mary. Saint John Paul II renewed his consecration many, many, times!
What have Popes said about this devotion? (Note: How many Popes who promoted “True Devotion to Mary” by Saint Louis were themselves canonized as Saints!)
Pope Blessed Pius IX declared that St. Louis De Montfort’s devotion to Mary was the best and most acceptable form of devotion to Our Lady.
Pope Leo XIII granted a plenary indulgence to those who make St. Louis De Montfort’s act of consecration to the Virgin. The Pope himself, on his deathbed, renewed the act and invoked the intercession and aid of the blessed De Montfort, whom he had beautified in 1888.
Pope Saint Pius X: “I heartily recommend True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin, so admirably written by Blessed de Montfort, and to all who read it, we grant the Apostolic Benediction.”
Pope Benedict XVI said that it is “a book of high authority and unction.”
Pope Pius XI: “I have practiced this devotion since my youth.”
Venerable Pope Pius XII: “The greatest force behind all of his apostolic ministry and his great secret for attracting and winning souls for Jesus was his devotion to Mary.” (Canonization address, July 20, 1947)
Pope Saint Paul VI: “We are convinced without any doubt that devotion to Our Lady is essentially joined with devotion to Christ, that it assures a firmness of conviction to faith in Him and in His Church, a vital adherence to Him and to His Church which, without devotion to Mary, would be impoverished and compromised.”
Pope Saint John Paul II: “The reading of this book was a decisive turning point in my life. I say ‘turning point,’ but in fact it was a long inner journey…This perfect devotion is indispensable to anyone who means to give himself without reserve to Christ and to the work of redemption.”
Saint Louis de Montfort said of this consecration, “It is an easy way. It is the way which Jesus Christ Himself trod in coming to us, and in which there is no obstacle in reaching Him. It is true that we can attain divine union by other roads; but it is by many more crosses and strange deaths, and with many more difficulties, which we shall find it hard to overcome. We must pass through obscure nights, through combats, through strange agonies, over craggy mountains, through cruel thorns and over frightful deserts. But by the path of Mary we pass more gently and more tranquilly.”
