Tinny Colin
Having begun my real estate investing career two years ago, I have acquired/transacted on over a million dollars of real estate. I have successfully flipped 5 properties and now own 2 residential properties in which I rent by the rooms. By doing this, I gross a little over 40k a year. Although some eyes may consider me as not having the most experience, I like to tell a part of my story that signifies my long-term intentions, passion, and motivation to grow my real estate portfolio. After purchasing my first ever rental property, which was a standard 3 bedroom 2 bath house (now 4 bedrooms), my goal was always to rent each rooms out. I would sleep in one bedroom and rent out the others. Within a month of doing this, I realized that although I would cover my mortgage and expenses and live “for free”, I was not cash flowing. There was a mud room area within the property where the washer and dyers were. With just enough space to put a small twin bed, I decided to sleep in my mudroom. I slept in these conditions for a year. By doing so and now renting out all three of my rooms, I was able to cash flow, save up money, and buy my second property. I am now transitioning into multifamily and applying the same grit, grind, and hustle to more quickly grow my portfolio.
