Host of Locked on Nationals, Locked on Big 12, and associate producer of college sports on SiriusXM, Josh Neighbors, joined me on the show this week. A very good friend of mine, we met  through Play-by-Play Sports Broadcasting Camps last summer, where Josh was a counselor. A Richmond, Virginia native, Josh is a University of Missouri Alumni, where he spent four and a half years. He got involved with Locked on through a great friend, but trusted his instincts. Josh knew that he wasn’t a TV guy and preferred radio.

An avid reader, Josh knew that becoming a sports communicator was a lifelong dream. With the opportunity to attend one of the best schools in the country, Josh is very grateful for his time at Mizzou. He essentially figured out what he specifically wanted to do in the field, and a family bond was grown throughout his program at Mizzou. He truly loved to travel to games around the country and do what he loves.

One of the things Josh talked to me about that stuck with me is that in this business, you have to stay motivated. Because if you begin to slack, others will pass you. If you set goals because this industry is constantly growing, if you can learn perseverance at a young age, it will help you in the long run. Josh left me with this, “If I was involved with anything, I loved it as much as I could, and I gave it my all. If you feel good about something, build on it, and learn something from it.” A fun episode, featuring Boey the loving dog, I enjoyed this very much, and it was personally, one of my best interviews! God bless everyone!
