Former NBA player, Dontell Jefferson, joined me on the show this week! A native of Cordele, Georgia, Jefferson actually moved to Atlanta, Georgia, at the age of nine. An athlete at heart, Jefferson really has become a devoted player of the game but was actually a football lover at first. A family man at heart, we talked about the sacrifices his family made for him to succeed at his dream, and how much he appreciates his family, but how he could never imagine where he would be without them.
A very inspirational story and an unconventional route to the NBA, his story is very unique. Jefferson devoted himself to outwork everyone and decided to take the JUCO route coming out of high school, instead of jumping on a scholarship offer from Morris-Brown College. After his time at the JUCO level, Jefferson understood what it took to play at the next level. He immediately fell in love with The University of Arkansas. Jefferson also spent time playing overseas, and in the G-league, before officially stamping his name in the NBA. Jefferson has now become the dean of students and assistant basketball coach at eStem High School. and has written a book on how to make it to the NBA that you can check out here: https://www.amazon.com/How-Make-NBA-Scholarship-Basketball/dp/069299388
Again, I enjoyed this very much, this is a story we all can learn from! Apologies for my video quality, I am working on that every day. Enjoy the episode everyone! God bless!
