Freelance sports columnist, FWAA/USBWA member, KTHV-TV/Hogzone contributor, and managing Editor at Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, Jim Harris, joined me on the show this week! A native of Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Harris, a writer by nature, talked to me about writing and reading news stories as a young kid, and how he truly believed he was born to be a writer. A loving and passionate Razorback sports fan. Jim’s knowledge and love for the Razorbacks go back decades. Jim attended the University of Arkansas and loves sports, especially Razorback football.

Jim began his newspaper career in high school and went on to work for many organizations such as the Pine Bluff Commercial and Arkansas Gazette. He has also worked for various organizations such as ArkansasSports360, Football Writers Association of America (FWAA), United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA), KATV, HogZone, and THV-11.

Jim very vividly talked to me about his housekeeper, Camille, who was like a third grandmother to him growing up, and the endless stories about her. Jim has enough stories to write a book about her.

Jim left me with this: “It’s like, I would write my own obituary. But I think from other people’s perspectives, I hope people remember I was a good friend, a good father, worked my tail off, took the good with the bad, didn’t make a lot of money, but was blessed with the life he had”. I did something this episode that I’ve never done before--I gave an open invitation to Jim to come back one day on the show. Truly, a great episode, I enjoyed every second of it, and these stories should live on for lifetimes. Jim’s gratitude and optimism with me was evident, as he told me, “I’m happier than I’ve ever been before.” Enjoy the Episode! God bless everyone!
