The last episode for season two features Arkansas Hall of Famer and SEC Network CBB analyst Pat Bradley! Born in Everett, Massachusetts, a city of winning, Pat was a sports lover by heart and grew up idolizing the legendary Boston Celtic teams. Pat’s resume blew up during a high school tournament where his talent and leadership were quickly recognized by Nolan Richardson. An opportunity of a lifetime, Coach Richardson and Coach Anderson offered Pat a scholarship to be a Hog. Stemming from a national championship and a Final Four appearance the previous two years, Pat quickly acclimated to the pressure of the spotlight and being away from home. A quick adapter, Pat quickly realized the differences from high school ball to SEC basketball. Nicknamed “the shooter,” Pat set school and SEC records for threes made, attempted, and three-point field goals in consecutive games. Eventually, Pat was inducted into the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame. Pat mentioned to me how much of a blessing it has been to be honored in the same category with names such as Eddie Sutton, Frank Broyles, and Nolan Richardson.
Visualizing an NBA career after college, Pat’s journey took him overseas to places such as France and Denmark. Eventually coming back to Arkansas, he played in the NBA-D league, now known as the G-league. Injuries held Pat’s playing career from moving forward. An opportunity was given to him to become a coach, and Pat quickly fell in love with the role and the adversity. Getting into radio as a side job, radio quickly became a passion for Pat. Joining the SEC Network in recent years, the program has grown tremendously every single year. Pat has loved every second of his job, as he continues to grow as an analyst.
From a childhood consisting of sports and video games, Pat has many support systems within his family. He has a piece of advice for aspiring players (1:00:45) I also talked to Pat about how the game has revolutionized into a long-range game and how that fits into basketball.
As usual, I asked Pat how he wanted to be remembered. Pat left me with this, “I’ve always liked to put a smile on people’s faces. I’ve always enjoyed spending time with people, and having them feel better with themselves, and the world in general. What I want people to remember about me is that I cared about others, and I made sure they understood that they can get through anything.”
It has been my honor to be a part of this journey with every single person, as I couldn’t have finished this second season without you guys. This isn’t goodbye, it’s just a see ya later. Take care everyone! I hope you enjoyed the episode. It was such an honor to do this, to continue leaving a positive legacy. God bless everyone! See you soon!
