SEC Network analyst and former NFL player, Roman Harper, joined me on the show this week! A native of Prattville, Alabama, a football lover at heart, Roman was surrounded by siblings who embraced football as well. Speaking so highly of family, Roman discussed how much of a blessing his parents have been to his life, and how being a father has been the greatest blessing ever for him. A mysterious growth spurt allowed Roman to be older when he started to take football seriously, and he would not stop. Growing quickly as a player in high school, gaining knowledge and mentorship, high school was one of the greatest experiences of his life. Attending Alabama, (29:58) Roman’s reasons for choosing Bama, is a story to hear. Embracing college life, Tuscaloosa treated Roman greatly, but football was where it mattered. Quickly becoming one of the most sought out players on the team, his draft stock quickly rose. Leaving for a chance at the NFL, Roman was taken in the second round by the Saints, but promised himself to go back and get his degree, which he did. Embracing New Orleans like no other, spending nine years there, Roman adapted and the City fell in love with him. Beloved like no other, Roman and the Saints won the superbowl in 2010, and a decade later he was inducted into the Saints Hall of Fame. Now a SEC Network anchor, Harper never predicted his journalism career, but has enjoyed it like no other, working with some of the greatest people ever, and getting a chance to to travel all across in the midst of the game he loves the most. (1:07:44) Roman left me with some of the greatest words of wisdom that has ever been shared, “be where your feet are.”
One of the best and joyful stories I have ever gotten to hear, please enjoy the episode! It was an honor to meet and connect with someone I look so highly to, please learn, laugh, and enjoy this episode! God bless!
