Texas Tech Women’s basketball player, Bre’Amber Scott, joined me on the show this week! I’m always excited to speak with a native of Little Rock, Arkansas. Surrounding herself with the correct people and maintaining the love of basketball, Bre mentioned her family and friends, and how important they have been in her life as people that have given her motivation to be better, and a shoulder to lean on.
Bre attended Central High School, where she made a name for herself and enjoyed basketball like no other time. Offers rained in from states around the south: Mississippi State called and coaches from Arkansas, but Bre committed to the Bulldogs. Competing with the best and being surrounded by great people and players, Starkville seemed like the perfect place for Bre. There's no place like home, however, and after great years in the spotlight at Mississippi State, Bre decided to enter the transfer portal, and she ended up back home. She attended UALR, needing to be surrounded by family and loved ones. The move was important for her mental health. Adapting herself in Little Rock during the COVID pandemic, the move back home was difficult, but she continued to work on her game and body, setting herself up for more success. Considering a move again, Bre kept her transition quiet and under wraps, looking for a family environment from a program. Texas Tech offered exactly what she was looking for, not just as an athlete but as a person. Bre is excited to be in Texas and enjoying her new home and her new family.
This is what she left me with, “Always be true to yourself, be who you are. As long as you know who you are as a person, then you’ll be fine, and I want people to always know that I care about where everything started, and I will never forget that”. I enjoyed this so much. It’s always a blessing to speak with intriguing people from my hometown, and we are wishing nothing but success and blessing for Bre! Please enjoy the episode, and God bless everyone!
