Duke Track and Field star, Brianna Smith, joined me on the show this week! A native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, surrounded by love, Brianna has always done her best to make herself and her family proud. Beginning track at the age of eight, Brianna has been in athletics for as long as she can remember. Her first year competing she made the Junior Olympics as she quickly began competing at the highest level. Continuing to compete throughout her childhood, Brianna quickly became one of the most sought out athletes in the state, receiving offers from Penn State, Virginia, Princeton, and of course Duke. Adventuring into a completely new environment, Duke felt comfortable for her, and the training group stood out like no other for her. Being surrounded by some of the top athletes in the country, Brianna’s work ethic was bolstered even more while being at Duke. Recognized as first team high jump and gold medalist this year, every year of college Brianna has seen improvement. Such an outstanding person, her work ethic has not gone unnoticed, and she gave me a breakdown of her day-to-day schedule. We truly get to see what a life is like for an athlete (24:47). Running track for so long, Brianna is looking forward to life after college, wanting to become a physicist scientist, as she has so many future endeavors to look forward to.

This is what she left me with, “How you feel about yourself affects every aspect of your life, whether you think it does or not. Working on your relationship with yourself is the most important thing.” Such joy with this episode, and I enjoyed so much having a track athlete on. Please continue to strive for the best Brianna! Please enjoy the episode as much as I did. God bless you all!
