Former college basketball player, Chris Lewis, joined me on the show this week! A native of Meridian, Mississippi, Chris started playing basketball at a young age. Talking a lot about his family and girlfriend, Chris said the people around him have made such an impact on his life. Making a move to Hattiesburg, Mississippi to continue a basketball career, Chris quickly became one of the top players in the state through his years in high school. Adversity is an understatement to describe Chris’s story, and his recruiting story was an interesting one, with Chris finally finding himself at East Mississippi Community College. With the motivation of his athletic family, Chris kept devoted to becoming the best player possible, but found trouble adapting to the college game. Transferring to Jones College, Chris continued to adapt and grow as a player, but COVID-19 affected a lot of his playing career. Chris is now at Ole Miss, studying exercise science and looking to become a physical therapist as he considers his future outside of basketball.

One of the most humble and gracious people I have ever had a chance to sit down and talk with, Chris left me with this, “Never let anyone tell you what you’re capable of. Once you set your mind, keep a tunnel vision. I always want people to remember that I worked hard, and I was there for others. It’s not about me, I’ve always wanted to help others”. Positivity and enjoyment all around, please learn and smile as you hear an incredible story. God bless! Enjoy!
