Austin Peay Women’s basketball player, Briah Hampton joined me on the show this week. A native of Memphis, Tennessee, and a track and field athlete at heart, Briah shared how attending a Grizzlies game quickly impacted her love for basketball. A very devoted and honest person, Hampton began playing basketball in middle school and was continuously one of the youngest people on her teams, which drove her passion to get better. She mentioned her parents and how impactful they were on her mindset to work harder, and how grateful she is to have them and what they’ve sacrificed to them.

Balancing track and basketball in high school, Hampton felt supported greatly by friends and family at all times. Quickly becoming a talent in the state, Hampton played with the Woodz Elite AAU team, and her name quickly became known. COVID-19 affected her junior year of high school, and Hampton decided to transfer to Arlington High school for her senior year. Recovering from an ACL Injury, the recruiting process was very important for Briah, because she knew rehab would be vital, and being a part of a family lifestyle was important for that. Modeling, making clothes, and Tik Tok are some of her main hobbies.

Committing to coach Brittany Young and company, Brian is slowly settling in at Austin Peay. This is what Briah left me with: “People are always going to talk about you, whether you’re doing something good or bad, so do what you want to do, and do what you feel is best for you, and don’t let anyone bring you down. That's the advice I would give.” Enjoyed the episode a lot, the positivity and peace of wisdom was evident, and I love that I could bring Briah on the show! Enjoy the episode everyone! God bless!
