Creator of Gleague TV, Jeffrey Kee, joined me on the show this week! A native of Washington D.C. Kee grew up in Maryland. Jeffrey, a basketball fanatic at heart, talked to me about his passion for basketball, and how many pathways basketball has paved for him. Working from the start, Jeffrey began interning for a minor league team in high school where he began learning media and content creation. Spending much of his childhood watching basketball, looking at stats, and being introduced to the game, Jeffrey knew that basketball would someway develop his passion.
Jeffrey was introduced to the coaching landscape while attending the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC). A student manager throughout his time at the university, he ended up becoming a graduate assistant for the women’s team. Coaching was his main goal before the Gleague TV page began to take off. Although it didn’t blow up overnight, eventually it became extremely popular and Kee was contacted by the NBA G League. Kee now works for the league, and is one of the main content producers as his page is the main social media page for G league basketball.
This is what he left me with, “anything that is worth pursuing is gonna take time. For me in the G League, right now I’m a small fry, but ten years from now I can be in a different space just because of the work I’m doing now. Your time will come. Make your own avenue”. I really enjoyed this episode; so much positive wisdom and advice given. Enjoy! God bless everyone.
