Description

Welcome to another episode of the Bayside Bubble where we are joined today by lifelong bayside resident, Dr Cheryl Threadgold.

Dr Cheryl Threadgold has a PhD in theatre history and is an Order of Australia recipient for services to performing arts and the community. She graces us with her in depth knowledge of the history of amateur theatre in which she quite literally wrote the book, In the Name of Theatre

We discuss how she got her start in performing arts in Middle Park at a young age, and marvel over her beautifully melodic diction.

We explore the idea of ‘anonymous theatre’, an American concept in which the cast rehearse individually and meet upon opening night creating and the excitement that ensues.

Dr Cheryl Threadgold regales us with tales from her considerable experience in the industry as well as her extensive research and we discuss how this is showcased in her new book.

All profits from the sales of this book will be donated back into the theatre via the Victoria Drama League and the Music Theatre Guild of Victoria so if you’d like to pick yourself up a copy you can order one today at https://www.inthenameoftheatre.com.au
