Episode No.48 of The unTITLED Podcast - a conversation with Caroline Fitzgerald, Founder, GOALS Sports. Caroline launched GOALS Sports eight short months ago with the mission to make "the business case for Women's Sports." In a world where an egregious 4% of sports media coverage is dedicated to Women's Sports, even less of that space makes the business of Women's Sport their mission. Caroline is working to change that.
Caroline and I start our conversation by talking about our experiences coaching high school basketball, and how she found her confidence growing up through sport, playing baseball on an all-boys team (2:57); and onto when she made the realization that sport needed to be part of her professional life, and the feminist lens that shapes her approach to work and life (12:34); before walking me through the origin of GOALS Sports, its mission and the influence of the WNBA in it (18:49); we then discuss Women's Sports and why it is a largely-untapped and lush landscape for investment and growth, and the mutual admiration we have for the leadership of Alyse LaHue and the work she and her team are doing at Gotham FC (26:31); we close out the conversation by sharing the WNBA expansion franchises we would most like to see, Caroline defines "Womanhood in 3 Words" and offers advice in "For The Girls" (36:08); To end the episode Kayleigh returns with the thoughts of a worried, yet hopeful Arsenal fan for the 48th edition of "Player Voicemail (48:19).
