Toni (@fatblackluxury) and Alexis (@fromalexianicole) dives into what exactly is desirability politics, how does this play a role in their lives especially dating, and how celebrities and public figures enact desirability politics to harm those who live on the margins (ie. dark skinned people, fat people, disabled people.) After giving updates on their lives from eye surgery to facials, Alexis and Toni discuss Dani Leigh’s colorist song, her remarks, and her boyfriend DaBaby gatekeeping Blackness for her. We also discuss Reginae and her relationship with YFN Lucci and society’s need for Black women to accept struggle love. They unpack the ways desirability has played a role in their dating lives and later talk through the Salt N Pepa biopic, whether or not they watched their thoughts on Spinderalla being excluded from the movie, the group, and the Hollywood Star on the Walk of Fame.
