The artist gets to define his art. He describes what it means and suggests how we should understand it. No one else has that authority. Now consider that God is also an artist. Genesis 1:1 states that He created the heavens and Earth. That means that he is the only one allowed to define his creation. In that same chapter of Genesis, it says God created man, male and female, He created them. Therein is the controversy between our culture and God's authority. Who defines what a man and a woman is!
