Dr Ernest Groman is from Vienna, Austria, and he was born in 1969. He completed his medical school studies 1997. Already at this time dr Groman was very interested in nicotine dependence and smoking cessation and he has since devoted the majority of his time to offering smoking cessation treatments at many different parts of the Austria society.
In the past, he worked for the Public Health Center (Institute of Social Medicine of the University of Vienna). Since 2002, he has been involved in the development and implementation of smoking cessation programs in Lower Austria.

📍TOPIC
Dr Groman visited Prague because of his participation in a roundtable on ‘Reducing Cigarette Addiction and Preventing cancer in the Czech and European context’. As studies say, cigarette smoking causes 30% of the cancer. So why do people start smoking today, when cigarettes are no longer popular or visible, as in the past, and when human is most prone to addiction to smoking? According to the statement of Dr Groman, reaching a world without nicotine is not possible, but we can replace it with other nicotine-containing products. According to Swedish studies, nicotine-containing products supplanting cigarettes could save many lives. Replacing the strict rhetoric of smoking bans could be more effective in a future and prevent black market.
