The history of beer is a fascinating story. Nina Nazionale, co-curator of the exhibition "Beer Here: Brewing New York’s History" at the New-York Historical Society talked with Clare Sheridan about how brewing was affected by the opening of the Erie Canal, immigration, the invention of the bottle cap, and New York breweries' great need for ice harvested from freshwater sources such as Rockland Lake during the nineteenth century.
