Description

Emily Dalzell speaks to Toria about life 'on the other side' of teaching, where, after 11 years as a Head of Music in secondary schools, left the profession after a serious mental health breakdown and Bipolar Disorder diagnosis. She speaks about the vital need to open the conversation about how schools (in particular, school leaders) can do more to support teachers with a mental health condition and discusses the 'other side' of teaching that doesn't often get spoken about; the struggle teachers face to manage living with mental health issues, the lack of understanding and differentiation between 'wellbeing' and understanding mental health and how schools should empower teachers to thrive, not just about survive.
