This is an amazing and suspenseful story in Judges of the Old Testament. In addition to learning about Deborah and Jael’s bravery, we look at Barak, second-in-command as a cautionary tale. He refused to go to war unless Deborah went with him, even though he knew it was God’s command. Did he have consequence for his attitude?
This story brings me to wonder how well I would respond. How brave and courageous are you?
