Born in Tanzania, Beckah has spent a young lifetime gathering her stories. Moving to Australia at the age ofeight, her life has been “a constant movement”. Beckah Amani writes delicate, intimate songs that draw on deeplypersonal topics–heartbreak, placelessness, identity—with warmth and grace, drawing strength from hersonorous voice. Her work always manages to offer both solace and motivation, offering salve to the wounds ofthe world. In the leadup to WOMADelaide festival this year, I chat with Beckah Amani about channeling her heritage in her music, having her family play on her debut EP 'April' and making the move from Australia to London.
