Kefaya is an award winning collective of musicians and producers based in the UK, led by Al MacSween, Guiliano Modarelli and Joost Hendrickx, who bonded over both music and an internationalist political stance. Experimental collective Kefaya collaborated with the cream of the world's musicians, using contemporary production techniques from the worlds of pop/rock and electronica to create a fresh, state-of-the-art spin on world music, as on their 2019 album with Afghan singer Elaha Soroor, Songs of Our Mothers. In the leadup to WOMADelaide festival I chat with Kefaya about creating a political stance with their music, collabortating with artists as an instrumental band and meeting Elaha Soroor and creating their album Songs of Our Mothers.
