Izy (pronounced eye-zee), are perhaps Far North Queensland’s first neo-soul export. Ryo, Warrigo and Maru, each a part of musical families from different continents, connected in the distant north of Queensland; three young men who became brothers playing music together. Relocating to Melbourne in 2019, Izy play slinky, futuristic soul music with raw old-soul sensibilities. In the leadup to WOMADelaide festival I chat with Izy about the creation of their album 'Irene'. We discussed the incorportation of family energy in their music and fostering an analog music making process.Â
