In the first part of this episode series, Ahyoka Atali introduces some of the biggest issues that fuel the MMIW epidemic in so-called Canada and America. Ahyoka is a MMIWG2S survivor -- which stands for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit. We discuss decolonization, blood quantum, poverty in Native communities, epidemics on reservations, and the history of genocide on Turtle Island.
Episode Cocktail & Mocktail:
LEMON DROP COCKTAIL
2 oz vodka
½ oz triple sec
1 oz simple syrup (or honey)
1 oz lemon juice and zest!
Zest lemon onto a plate with a couple spoonfuls of sugar and mix, barely wet rim of martini glass and dip into sugar mixture. (Wait a few minutes for sugar to adhere). Add vodka, simple syrup, triple sec, and lemon juice into shaker, shake for at least 15 seconds, strain and enjoy!

1.25 oz lemon juice
¾ oz simple syrup
2.5 oz club soda, chilled
Sugar
Follow the same process with dipping martini glass in sugar, Shake ice cubes, simple syrup, and lemon juice in a cocktail shaker 15 seconds or more. Strain into martini glass, top with club soda and garnish with lemon peel
