Matthew 1:1-17
1. The intention is more than a simple history report.
a. The list is an incomplete compilation.
b. The list includes women and gentiles.
2. The lineage transcends the family tree of Jesus.
a. The lineage is written with Jewish prophecy in mind.
b. Jesus is the fulfillment of God’s promises.
c. The lineage of the Son of God includes sinners.
3. The list gives us hope.
a. God can use you to accomplish His holy plan.
b. Your family sins do not have to be your sins.
c. Your family history does not define your identity or mission.
d. Your family history does not dictate your destiny.
