Description

The Jefferson Bible, a slicing and dicing of the New Testament compiled by Thomas Jefferson in 1803. Jefferson rearranged the text of the Gospels into an account of the life and ministry of Jesus that eschews mention of any supernatural or miraculous elements.

He clipped from two King James Bibles the statements attributed to Jesus in the Gospels and pasted them into a 46-page scrapbook. He had hoped that this revision would promote moral virtues among American citizens. Let's take a look.
