Kenneth Leonard Carter was born September 12th, 1973, in Westerville, Ohio, just northeast of Columbus. Kenneth would go by the name Ki-Jana, nicknamed to him after a character from ‘Shaft In Africa’, and has gone by that name since his birth. Carter attended Westerville South High School where he starred in basketball, track, and football; earning All-American honors at running back, in 1991. Following graduation, Ki-Jana decided to attend Penn State University and play under Joe Paterno, plus, Ohio State already had Eddie George.
